Gary L. Robillard, age 90 of L’Anse, MI passed away Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Medilodge of
Munising, Munising, MI. He was born in Saginaw, MI on March 28, 1936 the son of the late
Lamar and Mabel (Homier) Robillard. Gary attended school in L’Anse. He served in the United
States Army and received an honorable discharge in 1957. Gary married the former Patricia
“Pat” Higgins in Aurora, MN on September 30, 1958. She preceded him in death on June 30,
- Gary had been employed as a union operator for various construction companies. He
owned and operated his own logging company “Robillard Trucking”, and had owned and
operated the first Texas roadside bbq in the 1990’s. Gary was a member of Keweenaw Bay
Indian Community, Local #324 and Iron Workers #139. Gary enjoyed welding, riding in the
woods, and loved animals, especially dogs. He had held at least 4 patents, including the “Spud
Wrench” for splicing cable. Gary was well known as “the Beanmaster PHD and for his one liners
in the L’Anse Sentinel.
Gary is survived by is loving children John (Nancy) Robillard of Lake Linden, MI, Curby Robillard
of L’Anse, and Tracie Robillard (Jim Godfried) of Gwinn, MI, grandchildren Derek, Alissa,
Johnathon, Harley, Jennifer, and Travis, great grandchildren Hali, Rylee, Fraya, Fallon, Austin,
Patricia, Haley Grace, Gabrielle, Troy, Mason, and Vance, great great grandchildren Koe, and
Ainsley, sisters Colette (Gino) Gemignani of Green Bay, WI, and Betsey Robillard of Baraga.
Numerous nieces’ nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents,
infant son, his wife, and brother John.
Interment will take place in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
