Carol Ann Monk, 88

Carol Ann Monk passed away peacefully July 26, 2026 (age 88) at Divine Living Center in Williamston, Michigan.

Carol was born March 18, 1938 to Edward and Barbara (Iskra) Skoviak in Painesdale, Michigan.  Carol lived in Painsedale until the age of 8, when the family moved to White Pine, Michigan.  At the age of 11, the family then moved to Ontonagon, where she graduated from high school in 1956.

After graduation, she briefly worked in Lansing, Michigan before moving back to Ontonagon, where she worked 5 years at the White Pine Copper Co in the purchasing department.  She then worked several years at the Citizens State Bank of Ontonagon, before working/retiring from the Michigan Department of Social Services in Ontonagon.

While working at White Pine, she met her eventual husband Jerry who worked at the near-by Porcupine Mountain State park.  They were married September 21, 1962 and had a loving marriage of 58 years before Jerry passed away in 2020.

Carol enjoyed skiing, bowling, golfing, traveling and rock hunting.  But her passion was gardening where she kept a magnificent garden behind her house.

Carol is survived by her sons Gary and David Monk.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Monk, sisters, Katheryn Casey, Virginia Taeger, Barb Greiser, Constance Lowrie, and her brothers, Edward and Joseph Skoviak.

A funeral service will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Ontonagon, Mi on August 21st, 11:00 am.  Internment of the ashes will follow at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.
